ロンドンしゃくなげ会

 英国ユニバーシティー・カレッジ・ロンドン（ＵＣＬ）のマイケル・アーサー学長と、しゃくなげ会の大沼信一教授を招いた講演会は２８日、福島市の民報ビルで開かれ、関係者約４０人が参加しました。
大沼教授は初代総理大臣の伊藤博文ら近代日本の礎を築いた人物の多くがＵＣＬで学んだ歴史を紹介した上で、現代の日本は海外留学者が減り「ガラパゴス化」が進んでいると指摘。「人材育成の観点から、ＵＣＬは質の高い教育を提供できる。ぜひ福島県の高校生の留学生を増やしたい」と話し、意欲のある若者を支援する枠組みの構築を呼び掛けました。

A lecture was held in Fukushima City’s Minpo Building by UCL’s university president Michael
Arthur and the Fukushima Association in London’s Professor Shinichi Onuma on the 28 th , and
attended by around 40 people.
Professor Onuma, after introducing the history of many people that built the foundations of
modern Japan, such as Hirobumi Ito the first Prime Minister of Japan that studied at UCL,
pointed out the number of students studying abroad is decreasing and “Galapagosatization” is
proceeding. He called for the construction of a framework that supports motivated young
people, saying that “From perspective of human resource development, UCL can provide a
high-quality education. I would definitely want to increase the number of high school
international students from Fukushima”.
